you say
in rare moments of lucid
drunken vulnerability.
“You deserve someone always kind.
Someone always
good to you. Someone…

Being loved is
not a right
and no one is ever
deserving of love.

When did the universe start keeping a balanced spreadsheet?

To “deserve” some-
is to have a right
which is
an entitlement.

Jurisprudence is the only place “rights” exist
and that
begins w/prole clamouring
and is brought into being w/a

Dear, you are
of my love. There is no
thing and no
one beyond life, liberty,
and the pursuit
(the pursuit, I repeat, not the consecrated finding)
of happiness
I deserve.

Love is granted not
usually by choice. A gale-
force, irrational, tempermental
yet steadfast non-

I am as undeserving
of you as you
of me.
Let us be humble
beneath this unshakeable fact.

There is nothing else
can be done.
