Leonard Bernstein – “Rhapsody in Blue” (1976 – Part 2)

August 22, 2008 at 12:32 pm (Music)

The second half of Gershwin’s brilliant “Rhapsody in Blue.” a musical composition for solo piano and jazz band written in 1924, which combines elements of classical music with jazz-influenced portions.
Here, Leonard Bernstein plays the piano. Not sure of which orchestra performs with him.
I encourage everyone out there to listen to this timeless piece of music.
My favorite section of the whole piece comes about 3 min. and 10 sec. into this segment (and continues for about 2 minutes). I think it is one of the most beautiful passages of music ever written. Absolutely brilliant!
