Sly & the Family Stone – “Everyday People” and “Dance to the Music” (Live TV)
I’m not sure what show this is from or the date on it – but I’m assuming probably 1969 or 1970…?
Cluster – “Nabitte” (1972)
Another one of their briefer moments taken from Cluster II.
Frank Sinatra – “Send in the Clowns” (Live @ Carnegie Hall – 1980)
I used to hate this song until I heard Sinatra sing it. The way he does it is so sad & beautiful. Probably the best version he did was from his 1973 TV special Ol’ Blues is Back. This one is great too, due to the Brazilian-styled acoustic guitar backing by Tommy Mottola.
Eddie Van Halen – “Guitar Solo” (Live – 1986)
Taken from Van Halen’s Live Without a Net live video from 1986, right after Sammy Hagar joined the band. Here’s EVH alone, performing bits of “Cathedral,” “Eruption” and the intro to “Mean Streets.” Alex & Mike join him towards the end….video cuts off at that point.
Kraftwerk – Feature Story (2001 – Part 2)
More of this fascinating feature story on Kraftwerk, featuring interviews with former members Karl Bartos & Wolfgang Flur. Some is in German.
(more to come….)
Gregory Corso on Jack Kerouac
Friend and fellow Beat poet Gregory Corso talking about Jack Kerouac, as well as younger writers. Not sure when this interview comes from – probably sometime in the 80s.
Elton John – “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” (Live – 1976)
Elton solo on the BBC – 1976…
Elton John – “Tiny Dancer” (Live – 1971)
Recorded for the BBC…solo at the piano.
Madhouse – “7” (1987)
This is for all intents & purposes a jazz-funk album by Prince – with Eric Leeds playing sax and Prince playing everything else. Extremely rare these days. Originally came out on Paisley Park Records. Not much chance of it ever being re-released, which is a huge shame. Great stuff.
