Isaac Hayes – “Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymystic” (1969)
In honor of Isaac Hayes, who passed away a few hours ago (one day after Bernie Mac) very unexpectedly.
Ike was a baaad mother….and will definitely be missed.
This was and is still a blazing track – taken from Hot Buttered Soul – one of the great song titles of all time too. The beat is killer and that piano gets me everytime. This was sampled to great effect by P.E. on “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos” (see on this site for the video).
I can’t believe Ike is gone – may he R.I.P.
Kraftwerk – Music Feature (1991)
All in German – not sure what this is – but interesting video nonetheless.
Miles Davis – “Bitches Brew” (Live – 1969)
Credits & dates same as “Agitation” below…
Ted Nugent – “Free For All” (Live TV – 1978)
More from his Nov. 24, 1978 appearance on “The Midnight Special”
Miles Davis – “Agitation” (Live – 1969)
Miles, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland.
Recorded for a Danish Radio broadcast on Nov. 4, 1969 at Tivoli Konsertsal, Copenhagen, Denmark.
This was a short European tour just after Miles finished the Bitchew Brew recording sessions in August.
Interesting stuff…
Kraftwerk – Feature Story (2001 – Part 1)
Feature story about the band featuring interviews with former members Wolfgang Flur & Karl Bartos, as well as with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Moby & others. Some of it is in German.
(More to come….)
Kraftwerk – “Autobahn” (TV – 1975)
From the TV show “The Midnight Special” performing their first big hit. This is when they first started to become the Kraftwerk we all know today.
Harmonia – “Watussi” (1973)
A mixture of Neu! and Cluster – this Kosmische supergroup from their debut album Musik Von Harmonia. Trancelike electro-pop – still ahead of its time after all these years.
Cluster – “Für die Katz'” (1972)
The band that was originally Kluster, this is taken from their Cluster II album. One of their shorter pieces.
(Note: this is taken from vinyl and has some slight surface noise)
Witthauser & Westrupp – “Kinderlied fur Erwachsene” (Live – 1969)
German hippie folk music – definitely an acquired taste. They have been lumped in with the Krautrock movement. Not sure if they truly belong though.
