Jack Kerouac Interview (Italy – 1966)
Jack Kerouac in Italy (1966) being interviewed by Fernanda Pivano for Italian TV. He is clearly drunk.
Allen Ginsberg – “Put Down Yr Cigarette Rag” (1996)
This is a hilarious performance done by Allen, not long before his death. He was born to perform.
Allen Ginsberg Reads “White Shroud”
This is also taken from the feature story done on Ginsberg circa mid-80s. Great insight into his writing methods, he then reads his then-recent poem about a dream he had about his mother.
The Beatles – “Free as a Bird” (1995)
A clever video of an underrated (and unfairly maligned) song…which was originally to be a John Lennon solo track. He never finished it, so the other 3 Beatles got together in 1995 to complete this song.
Charles Bukowski – “The Genius of the Crowd”
I believe Hank wrote this back in 1966 (not sure when he recorded it), this poem is still very much relevant in 2008. He could be speaking about our current government.
Charles Bukowski Speaks
Not sure when this was recorded. Hank talks about the pimps & whores & bars of old Hollywood.
The Clash – “Clash City Rockers” (Live)
U2 – “40” (Live from Red Rocks – 1983)
Brand new at the time of this performance, this became the typical set closer for the next several years.
U2 – “40” (Live in Chicago – 2005)
A more recent recording of this U2 classic. This was the typical set closer back in the 80s, with the whole audience singing at the end as the band left the stage one by one. U2 has brought it back as a closer. Still moving….
